CROPSTOCK was a great success in the 20-30 mph wind and freezing cold!

Great friends, Mick Wilson and Scott Sells, setting up the new vineyard.

Jessica Echols, a great friend and project leader, getting field three ready for potatoes.

What a great event and great food!  We are so grateful for the 90 or so people, who braved the 20-30 mile an hour frigid winds, and helped us get ready for spring.   There is no doubting the heart of our community!

"Farmageddon The Movie" screening in Newnan.

We had a wonderful night at the screening of "Farmageddon" .  The largest screening we've had to date.  Thank you to all who attended and a big thank you to our wonderful sponsors who donated baked goods, beverages and their time, it woundn't have been a success without you!

About the movie:  Farmageddon highlights the urgency of food freedom, encouraging farmers and consumers alike to take action to preserve individuals’ rights to access food of their choice and farmers’ rights to produce these foods safely and free from unreasonably burdensome regulations. The film serves to put policymakers and regulators on notice that there is a growing movement of people aware that their freedom to choose the foods they want is in danger, a movement that is taking action with its dollars and its voting power to protect and preserve the dwindling number of family farms that are struggling to survive.

Community Breakfast Screening of FRESH the Movie - Saturday, 09/25/2010

180 Degree Farm and Senoia Vineyard Community Church successfully hosted our second documentary screening this year.  We had such a wonderful time meeting new friends and hearing great stories about the food movement.

Pasture raised scrambled eggs, fresh sausage, locally grown and ground grits with fontina cheese, fresh melon - these foods came from 180 Degree Farm and a host of other local farms in the area, all either organic or natural.  The shade grown coffee was brought by Mike Reams from a small village in Mexico and fresh roasted before the screening.  Simply the best tasting coffee I've ever had!

I want to give big thank you to our volunteers for all of their effort to make this a successful event, especially to my wife, Nicole.  She worked tirelessly to set-up, cook and clean during the event.

Movie Information:

FRESH celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system. Each has witnessed the rapid transformation of our agriculture into an industrial model, and confronted the consequences: food contamination, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources, and morbid obesity. Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision for a future of our food and our planet. Among several main characters, FRESH features urban farmer and activist, Will Allen, a 2008 recipient of the MacArthur “genius” grant and recently named one of Time’s 100 most influential people; sustainable farmer and entrepreneur Joel Salatin, made famous by The Omnivore’s Dilemma, the best-selling book by Michael Pollan, who is also featured in the movie; and, Kansas City supermarket owner David Ball, who is challenges our Wal-Mart-dominated economy every day by stocking his stores with products from local suppliers.

Food, Inc Screening & Potluck at Senoia Vineyard Community Church

Hosted by 180° Farm, a non-profit organization and Senoia Vineyard Community Church, 2450 Highway 85, Senoia, GA 30276 - Join us on April 23rd at 7 pm for a potluck dinner and a screening of the documentary “Food, Inc” with a Q & A forum after the movie.

Our nation's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. In "Food, Inc.," filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that's been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government's regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA.  Rated: PG

2010 Educational Workshops

What an exciting March weekend having Jay Salinas, from the Wormfarm in Wisconsin and

former Co-Director of Growing Power, bring his knowledge and expertise to 180 Degree

Farm for two very productive workshops. We are very grateful that we had an excellent turn

out and participation for both days. It takes sweat equity to build a successful non-profit

farm and we definitely had that this weekend with the help of our attendees and volunteers.
